The Coconut DietTM

Phase I - The 21-Day Weight Loss Kick-Off

Sample Menu Plan

Phase I is the strictest phase of The Coconut Diet.  For the first twenty-one days you will avoid most carbohydrates, with the exception of leafy greens, non-starchy vegetables, and nuts.  You will avoid all grains such as bread, bagels, muffins, rolls, buns, crackers, rice cakes, cereals, rice, pasta, and pizza.  Sweets are off the list too: no cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, donuts, or candy, not even most fruit.  Starchy vegetables such as potatoes, corn, and acorn squash also should be avoided.

If you think you will have nothing left to eat, you’ll be happily surprised.  The Coconut Diet offers plenty of appetizing combinations of vegetables, good fats, and healthy proteins that include chicken, turkey, fish, beef, eggs, cheese, and nuts.  Crispy Coconut Chicken Salad, Thai Coconut Salmon, and Low-Carb Smoothies are just a few of the kinds of mouth-watering recipes you can make that will keep your taste buds satisfied.  And Virgin Coconut Oil will help curb your cravings for sweets, bread, and starches.

You can choose good carbohydrates from a wide variety of brightly-colored vegetables that are rich in antioxidants and other important vitamins and minerals that will support your immune system.  Most of these foods you can eat as often as you like and as much as you want.  Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, and nuts will give your body the protein it needs.  You can eat these foods in moderate portions.

Good fats, especially Virgin Coconut Oil (VCNO), will help you satisfy your hunger faster and more completely.  VCNO makes this program uniquely successful in that it helps boost the body’s metabolism. It burns up quickly, much like kindling in a fireplace.  It helps curb cravings, especially for sweets, and keeps hunger at bay. You will eat two to three tablespoons of coconut oil per day. We recommend, however, that you start with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and work your way up to more. Diarrhea can be experienced in the beginning if too much oil is consumed before the body adjusts. It should be noted that due to the low-fat diet craze and the exclusion of healthy fats, some people have a difficult time adding extra fats to their diet in the beginning. You may also include olive oil and small amounts of butter.

If you experience digestive problems when you add in coconut oil, cut back on the amount of oil you consume. Go to just one teaspoon and work your way up to the recommended amount. Some problems may be due to a congested liver and/or gallbladder. You may want to start with Phase II in this case and cleanse your body, starting with the Colon Cleanse, then the Liver Cleanse, and Gallbladder Cleanse. This should improve your body's ability to digest fats. We also recommend that you take digestive enzymes. It is important to work VCNO into your meals with food. People who eat the VCNO right off the spoon, especially on an empty stomach, most often have difficulties in the beginning. However, once the body has adjusted, many people do eat it directly off the spoon with no problems.

This is not a diet of deprivation, but one of enjoyment.  With three meals and two snacks each day, you should not feel hungry or deprived. Best of all, you will learn a new style of eating that you can follow for the rest of your life.

Within days of starting this program, you should enjoy more energy and feel healthier.  Some physical ailments may simply disappear.  One improvement we often hear mentioned is a lessoning of fatigue; some people have reported great energy surges.  Many women have noted a significant reduction in PMS symptoms.  And scores of people who have suffered from low thyroid function have experienced exciting improvements.

The Coconut DietTM is not only enjoyable; it’s easy.  We aren’t asking you to measure food or count carbs—just choose from our lists of low-carbohydrate foods you can eat and don’t eat the foods in the “avoid” lists for the first three weeks.

Low-carb eating will give your body a chance to deal with issues of insulin resistance brought on by eating too many of the wrong carbs, which are primarily the refined and processed ones.  This will help your body control blood sugar. When you no longer experience swings in blood sugar, it will be easier to control cravings for sweets and other high-carbohydrate foods.  As a result, you will lose weight faster.  Taking 3cc of BanabaPureTM will also help the body process insulin.

When Phase I ends, you should have lost your cravings for sweets, bread, and starches.  As a result, your body should be far less resistant to insulin and your blood sugar should be more stable.  Best of all, you will be living a lifestyle that will help you prevent serious diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

The Fast Track One-Day Juice Fast

You may want to try the One-Day Juice Fast for one, two, or all three weeks of Phase I.  This is an all- liquid day that helps facilitate faster weight loss.  You may want to choose a weekend day or any other day when you don’t have to work outside your home.  During that day you will only drink vegetable juices, vegetable broth, water, sparkling mineral water, and herbal or green teas.  That’s all.  This day is a great boost to weight loss and will especially help you get rid of excess stored water.  It also helps to rejuvenate the body.

Supplements needed for Phase I

BanabaPlus:  This is glucose management herbal supplement for weight-loss. Take 1.5 cc twice daily after your largest meals to help regulate blood sugar. If your blood sugar is already low, use with caution or do not use at all.

Living Multi (Men or Woman's Formula): This is a multi-vitamin and mineral whole-food supplement that will provide key nutrients that may be missing from your diet, and are necessary for weight loss. Take 2-3 caplets with meals.

Icelandic Cod Liver Oil: Provides Omega-3 essential fatty acids from a source of fish oil free from heavy metals. Take 1-3 teaspoons a day.

OmegaZyme: Enzyme supplement to help break down and digest food. Take 1 caplet before meals, and 1 caplet directly after eating.

Primal Defense: By the 10th day of Phase I, start taking Primal Defense probiotics. These powerful probiotics will begin to balance out the healthy bacterial flora in the digestive tract, and prepare you for the colon cleanse in week one of Phase II. Start out by taking 2 capsules a day, one upon rising in the morning, and one before retiring at night. Best if taken on an empty stomach. Depending on the condition of your digestive tract, there could be cleansing reactions to probiotics, such as upset stomach or diarrhea. Reduce the amount until comfortable. Do not start taking until you have successfully incorporated 2-3 tbsp. of coconut oil into your diet. Work up to 2-4 caplets of Primal Defense, three times a day on an empty stomach throughout the 4-week cleanses of Phase II and for another 60 days after that through Phases III and IV. Then cut back to 3-6 caplets daily.
