If you have tried in vain to lose weight,
take heart. Everybody is unique. There is no
“one-size-fits-all” approach to weight loss or nutrition.
There are some reasons why people don’t lose weight on various
diets including low carb plans, and there are some steps you
can take to overcome certain health issues that may have been
preventing you from losing weight.
The Reason Some People Can’t Lose Weight
on a Low-Carb Diet Alone
Though low-carb diets work for many people,
there are individuals who suffer with certain health
conditions that make it very difficult to lose weight. A low-carb
diet is important for these people to follow, however, unless
the physical ailment is addressed, these people may spend a
lifetime trying unsuccessfully to lose weight.
You may be someone the doctors have given up
on. Maybe you’ve heard someone say there’s no hope for you to
lose weight; you may as well learn to live with it. We don’t
believe that. Very often as problems are corrected that cause
both ill health and weight gain, the weight melts off
naturally. When all the systems of the body come into harmony,
when you experience biochemical balance, when you detoxify
your system, and correct root causes of ill health, you can
achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
Under Active Thyroid
The number of people suffering from
hypothyroidism is reaching epidemic proportions in the US and
other western countries, and is one of the main reasons people
on traditional low-carb diets cannot lose weight. Many studies
now point to an over consumption of soy as a big reason (see:
www.coconutoil.com for
much of this research). One of the biggest changes people with
hypothyroidism can make in their diet is to eliminate all
polyunsaturated oils and get a healthy amount of coconut oil
into their diet to increase their metabolism and body
temperature. The Coconut Diet is especially suited for people
that have a hard time losing weight due to thyroid problems,
and cannot lose weight on other low-carb diets. To read more

Key to Weight Loss
Candida
The late Dr. Robert C. Atkins said that
about 20 percent of the people on the Atkins diet don’t lose
weight because of yeasts known as Candida albicans. Candida is yeast that normally inhabits our
digestive system. In healthy people, Candida does little harm
because it's kept in check by beneficial microorganisms, or
probiotics. These "good" bacteria, however, can be easily
destroyed by antibiotics, prescription medications, birth
control pills, poor diet and daily stress, allowing Candida
yeast to grow out of control and produce infections. Thought
to affect more than 40 million Americans, Candida can cause
uncomfortable symptoms such as vaginitis, weight retention,
bowel disorders, ear and sinus irritation, intense itching,
canker sores and ringworm.

Digestive Disorders
When we are eating healthy whole foods with
the absence of highly refined carbohydrates, weight gain
should not be a problem. However, many people who have
switched over to healthy diets, and have even limited their
carbohydrate intake, still have problems losing weight. One
reason is because many Americans suffer from some kind of
digestive disorder that prevents them from properly digesting
their food. Without a properly working digestive system,
essential vitamins and minerals that are necessary to maintain
proper weight may not be absorbed adequately from the foods we
eat, even if we are eating healthy foods.
