There are no enzymes in coconut oil. That is a myth. See: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/enzymes_and_coconut_oil.htm

I have been using coconut oil for years to fry my food. Just discovering the benefits for my general health. So, if melting the oil to take orally kills the enzymes why isn't it the same when using in recipes and frying?

Hi Jasmine,
You don't have to melt or do anything with it. However, if you like it this way feel free to do so. Just remember, melting raw virgin coconut oil will kill its enzymes.
Regarding size of portions. Take it easy, it really doesn't matters if you get 3 Tbsp a day or 4
, as long as you in your right caloric intake you will be fine.
I know that coconut oil may (and probably will) speed up your metabolism so you can burn out more calories but if you are trying to get rid of body fat it's best to keep carbs low (especially while eating coconut oil rich meal).
Just my $0.02.

Hey guys, I just started taking coconut oil. I just wanted to know that I read that it is best to take 3 tbsp daily. But do you melt it first and then add it to your meal or intake? Because I noticed that when I melted 1 tbsp into my tea, the coconut oil melted measures to more than 1 tbsp than the 1 tbsp un-melted. I hope that makes sense:)

I melt the coconut before I take it. Does that mean It will not work as well. I can't see eating it without melting it?
