Please remember when changing your diet, you will be going through changes that in a western diet seems different in many ways, and one of them is taste. One way to get past this is to start off small with your portions and gradually increase them. The other part is the mental part. All foods are not meant for enjoyment/entertainment,but for your health. Also you shouldn't have a hard time eating it either. Think of your health first and foremost, then gradually add it too your diet if you have a problem with taste.

I have been consuming Coconut products all my life. Oil tastes either like coconut or like nothing depending on who processes it.
I have both or either coconut oil or Grape seed oil in everything I consume regardless what it is. Grape seed oil( research yourself) has zero taste. I use coconut oil in all my teas or hot chocolate.
I made some oatmeal yesterday for breakfast with this oil, ground coconut and cherries. The remainder I saved and made many grain pancakes this morning topped off with homemade cherry jam. My wife thinks I am a cooking genious! Nutrition is very good.

Try it in scrambled eggs. Very good.

Melt the oil briefly before using it. It will blend extremely well then.

Do you folks melt it before you put it in your foods like your
oatmeal?

It's GREAT in a smoothie and I also put it in my tea and drink it. It shouldn't taste bad!

I don't understand the problem. What taste? My coconut oil has zero taste. It only has an oily feel. It reminds me of when I was young and my mother made me take paraffin oil for constipation - no taste. I'm new to coconut oil as such, so maybe I'm missing something.

I love coconut oil in my oatmeal. I usually put in a bit with some chia seeds, sweetner and almonds. Yum!

My first batch was awful as well, but the two I've tried since were so much better, actually enjoyable :) You just need to try other brands. Look online for reviews before you buy

Hey,
You might benefit from changing the brand? my first batch of coconut oil was a different one to the one I'm eating now, and believe me, I'll bring the unopened glasses of my second kind back to the store. It just tastes so much worse. As I heard that VCO doesn't get rancid (and anyway, the best before date is sometime in 2012), I just blame the brand... Back to the first one, which I actually enjoyed if prepared properly!

Hi Andy,
It may take a while before you will get used to the taste of coconut oil. If you want to eat it by the spoon and improve the taste, you have a choice of adding a little bit honey, butter, peanut butter, almond butter, jelly, bits of chocolate, etc. You can also sprinkle with a little cinnamon and nutmeg.
If you want to incorporate it with your food you can browse the http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com for recipe ideas.
