Do you mean "straight" as in the oil separate from the coconut meat or that it's more beneficial to take the oil straight rather then mixed with other food Iike in a smoothie etc.?

Hi Kimberly,

Shredded coconut has less oil but high in fiber. It also has natural sugar from the coconut. You would need to eat a lot of it to get significant amounts of the oil.

To have the full benefit of coconut oil it is better to take the oil straight also.

I've just started taking the coconut oil and I mix mine into a cup of Hot Water and add a tsp of 100% pure organic honey... however you can add a bag of pure organic green tea. ALL aide in weight loss..! You can not go wrong.

Hi Barbara,
Taking coconut oil straight will give you a quick energy and it will be absorbed quickly by the body.

Taking coconut oil mixed with food, the digestion process is slower due to other foods mixed with it.

In regards to "will get the full benefits of it" as mentioned to Kimberly, her question was, if eating shredded coconut will have the same benefits of taking coconut oil.

Clarification on the answer to Kimberly: There is less coconut oil in shredded coconut, and one would need a lot of it to get 3 tablespoon of coconut oil.
