Hi, I just read your post. I've been dealing with Candida for 20+ years now and I hate to tell you this, but once you have Candida, you'll have it forever. My Candida is now manifesting itself in the form of infection under all fingernails and toenails. I don't have yeast infections, but do have osteoarthritis, fatigue, etc. The only real way to get rid of Candida is to starve it out. This means giving up everything that yeast thrives on. Twenty yrs. ago I gave up: bread, all sugar, fruit, fermented everything, meat and dairy. I ate organic (when I could) vegetables and alternative grains like spelt, kamut, quinoa, (pronounced keen-wa), amaranth and teff. These can be found online at Amazon.com. I ate grains and veggies for 2 yrs. and thought the Candida was gone. Unless you adhere to a strict anti-Candida diet, it will come back. Good luck, Pat Smith

When your thrush is gone, and you feel full of life and energy, the candida will be gone then. I would still continue to use coconut oil for maintanence, to prevent its return. Also, continue to avoid refined sugar even after you stop the anti candida diet. You will know when you are well.

Hi,

Im new on this forum but have started an anti candida diet about a month ago due to a persistan thrush, and am experiencing some bad die off.

In the second week I took two doses of grapefruit seed extract (15-20 s a much lower dose than it said on the bottle) and had a real chock to my system. I woke up with heart palpitations and sweating that didnt stop until well into the next day. This scared me a bit and I stopped with the grapefruit seed extract.

I am sticking to the diet and now I am eating raw garlic - about 3 cloves a day which has given me really bad diahorrea (after about 5 days) so I think I have to cut back or shift to organic virgin coconut oil which I have bought in a health food shop.

I'll slowly up the dose on the coconut, using it as a dressing for salad I think but now to my question....

How do you know that you are free from Candida?

Do you do the spittle test every morning to see if there are any strings coming down or how do you know?

I do the spittle test every morning and from the beginning my spit was heavy and it took long time before the strings appeared but now it mixes with the water quicker - does anybody know how "healthy" spit is meant to look?
