There's 2 kind of palm oils: palm oil and palm kernel oil.
Palm oil is extracted from the pulp of the oil palm, palm kernel oil is derived from the seed. Palm kernel oil is not very common, especially in the US. Palm oil is more plentiful.
Palm kernel oil (not very common) has MCTs but not palm oil (more common oil).

I have been looking every where this and can't seen to find the answer. Does any one know, does palm oil have medium chain fatty acids?

It is very interesting stumbling on this forum, and I like it, VPO can be used in cooking food, we use it in cooking everything back home. I saw one person talking about the African dishes...
When you want to cook VPO you need first to heat the oil until, it clears up meaning when you put it in the fire wait that the thick oil start running and it great red color come out, there will be a fume coming out of it once that is done you have a clear red running VPO that taste close to many oil you know.
Then you can procede in cooking any type of food you want, when cooking beans or peas with VPO it taste terrific. If you are serious in cooking VPO you might need to get used in using a lot of spices because it work better with the VPO.
You could also cook cassava leaves sololy with only VPO and it is very tasty food I have ever come across...
So to recap you need to boil the oil and get it from it thick form to it running form that is more used with people of Ebony descent in cooking.
Thank you very much, it is been a great pleasure to contribute on this topic

I have been mixing palm oil with my fresh banana and papaya smoothies. I barely taste the tablespoon or two of palm oil, but I'm sure others might. I usually add the oil after I have blended the banana and papaya to avoid to clean the mess of the oil out of the blender.

Okay. I bought the VPO a while back but can't seem to find a way to consume it. The taste is a bit strong to just consume straight by the spoonful. and it tends to stain so I have not resorted to applying it topically. But I really need it especially for its Vitamin E content. Can anyone help me out with some solutions on how I can incorporate it into my diet?
Thanks so much!
I have to agree with you that VPO hasn't a good taste.
For topical applications I mix about 2 to 3 parts VCO with the palm oil and it doesn't show any staining. I am just wondering if you mixed it in the same parts with VCO if it would go down better. Also thinking of cooking that way as the palm oil doesn't taste any better when used for cooking.

If you do a little research, you will find some African recipes that incorporates the use of VPO. There is a chicken dish that I love that uses it along with spices, onions, garlic, and peanuts! I’m writing this during my lunch hour so I don’t have the recipe, but there are ways to use it out there.

Subject: Re: Coconut Diet - Virgin Palm Oil - Virgin Palm Oil [Forum: Virgin Palm Oil]
Hi Joyce,
I find the taste revolting, what I do is to mix it into my drinks like
coffee. Put on little (as in a teaspoon or less) at first and gradually
build up. Don't put in cold drinks or else it'll solidify unless it's in a
smoothie
Enjoy!
