Hi, I just started using VCO because of the omega 3 and 6. The oil melts at 76 degrees so I spread it on hot toast with some honey. Great! Marty

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with collagenous colitis years ago. I have just been using Lomital to help me through the flair ups, but have never gotten rid of the diarreah in years. I've been pretty discouraged about ever being normal again. Finally I decided to type "homeopathic remedies for colitis" into the google search. After reading a lot - I found testimonials for VCO. So, I decided a week ago to start using it. I had instant relief by adding 1 Tb. VCO to hot tea, which I drank 3 cups minimum a day. I found the first gulp was the hardest, as oil rises to the top, so that first gulp is mostly oil. I would put a bite of something in my mouth, mush it around, then letting it distract me from that 1st gulp of hot tea and VCO. Sometimes I do the same thing for the next 2 gulps, then after that I'm good to finish it w/o help. I have only been doing this a week, and my diarreah is no more. I cannot attribute it to anything else. I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel about myself and life. I hope this helps. Angela LA, CA

Hi Lisa:

I was told that I had Ulcerative Colitis back in 1992 and then I went into Crohns disease. As you know this has been such a battle for sixteen years. I'm tired of the medicines, the steriods and 6mp which is a form of Chemo therapy. I had a terrible year with being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. I truly believe that the medicines caused my cancer. I am going through a flair now. On Friday I went to GNC and bought some vitamins: B complex, Omega 369, Ester C, Acidaphilus and L-Glutamine. I bought Extra Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil Softgels because I heard it was good for the gut. The brand I purchased was Emerald. Is there any particular brand I should get? And do you think 4 softgels are enough per day? How much raw, organic apple cider vinegar do you take? And does the Blackstrap molasses does it take the place of sugar? Exercise I absoultely love and it helps me but my flair is making it so difficult to go to the gym. I like to work out every other day. I'm so frustrated. I would appreciate any information you can give me.

Thanks,
Cathy

Lisa,
I sort of "play" with my dosage of coconut oil. Lately I have been taking 1-2 tbsp plus I put coconut milk in my post workout smoothie. I honestly thing it's a combination of things, but VCO is definitely one of the major ps!
I also take apple cider vinegar (raw, organic) and blackstrap molasses.
I don't know how bad your brother's case is, but mine has always been easily controlled. In fact, for about 10 years I was symptom and medicine free. Anyway, I would recommend keeping a food journal and noting any reactions to certain foods. And the VCO, of course. Also, excercise is great!
Hope this helps!

Can you please tell me what has worked for you with ulcerative colitis? How much VCO do you take a day?
I need this help for my brother.

Thanks so much,

Lisa

I also have ulcerative colitis. I have had it for 16 years. I had been symptom free (with no meds) for about 10 years.
Last summer, my symptoms returned and I was put back on Asacol (orally) and Canasa (suppositories). After getting my symptoms under control, I came off the Canasa. My doctor told me to take it as needed. Well, everytime I stopped taking it, my symptoms started to return. I began taking VCO about 1 month ago and haven't had to go back to the Canasa since! It's one of the many benefits I have begun to see from VCO! My next hope is to come off the Asacol...

If you have a look back over the 14000 messages or so on this forum you will find a lot of information about CO and yeast problems. I have been taking VCO for about 3-4 months now for yeast (in addition to other natural meds). I think it may be helping, but not really sure and I think for it be of therapeutic benefit you need at least 3.5 tablespoons per day, which I am not taking. I get a lot of negative feedback from my friends about eating VCO in the quantities I do, they all say Im going to die of a heart attack at 30! Guess I'll just have to wait and see then!

Could long term systemic yeast overgrowth be the cause of ulcerative colitis?

Hi, I was wondering that same question as I have ulcerative colitis also. Am currently battling yeast overgrowth and was looking for a remedy. Is yeast a problem for ulcerative colitis patients or am I just the lucky one? KY
