| The news is out. Low-fat diets don’t work!
After decades of conventional dietary education naming the problem
with obesity and heart disease in America as saturated fat in
our diet, statistics now show that the problem of obesity and
heart disease has not improved; it’s worse. Gary Taubes
has received significant press coverage on his dietary dictum.
In his article “What If It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?”
appearing in the New York Times Magazine (July, 2002), Gary:
says the real culprit causing obesity in America is carbohydrates.
He was one of the first to blow the whistle on the low-fat diet
disaster. What followed was a marketing phenomenon that has
propelled us into today’s low-carb diet phenomena.
While fats are now considered acceptable for weight-loss diets,
few authors are articulating the difference between healthy
and unhealthy fats. Lost in all the media hype of the new low-carb,
high-fat, high-protein diets is the fact that there is a fat
and oil that has been bestowing health and weight management
on its consumers for centuries. This fat is a staple in tropical
Asia. Coconut oil is unknown to Americans because it received
scathing attacks against it during the low-fat craze in the
US in the 1970s and 1980s. This information was not based on
any scientific research but rather on hype.
When we look at the coconut oil diet of the tropics, we see
why Asians have enjoyed slimmer, healthier bodies than most
people in western nations. In one published study in the South
Pacific, all the inhabitants were lean and healthy despite a
very high saturated-fat diet consisting of coconuts. In fact,
these populations as a whole had ideal weight-to-height ratios
as compared to the Body Mass Index figures used by nutritionists.
Digestive problems are rare. Constipation is uncommon. These
people averaged two or more bowel movements a day. Atherosclerosis,
heart disease, colitis, colon cancer, hemorrhoids ulcers, diverticulosis,
and appendicitis are rare conditions.
The Low-Carb Coconut Diet combines the wisdom of the tropics
with the current wisdom of eating fewer carbohydrates, more
lean protein, and ample amounts of good fats for the healthiest
weight loss program available. It adds cleansing protocols,
which further speed the weight loss process and facilitate high-level
wellness. Offering high-antioxidant vegetable juices and raw
vegetables, it promotes anti-aging as well. Think for a moment
about how people look when they’ve been on a popular high
protein diet for a while. They are slimmer, but they often look
more drawn, sometimes older, and are less vibrant. This diet
program shows people how to lose weight and look years younger
and healthier at the same time.
